We thought this past year would consist of onesies, midnight feedings, and diaper changes. Instead, it ended up consisting of tears, pain, waiting... and eventually, redemption.

This summer, Tim and I found out that it is highly unlikely we will ever have biological children without expensive and invasive treatment. At the time, it seemed like our dreams of having a family were being ripped from our hands. Surrender is painful, but we had to surrender our plans for our family for God's plans. And you know what? His plans are always, always better!

Over the past month or so we officially began the journey to grow our family through adoption, and we are so excited! We want to share our news with you for a few reasons. First, so that we don't just show up one day with a baby. Awkward, right? So consider this your heads up!

And second, if you have come to this website it means you are important in our lives, and we want to share this journey with you! We need your encouragement and support. Adoption is beautiful and exciting but it is also a roller coaster, and it can be difficult and overwhelming at the same time. Most people don't need FBI clearance before they can conceive, or have to answer to a near stranger about how they plan to discipline their children before being allowed to parent (although maybe some people should)!

All this to say... we are on our way to become parents. Hopefully sooner rather than later! And we are so, so excited.

Adoption is not a consolation prize, or Plan B. It was Plan A all along for our family, we just didn't know it yet. In fact, adoption was God's idea - He adopted us! Through this waiting season, Tim and I have gained a much deeper, tangible understanding of the Gospel and it has gloriously wrecked our hearts. God has something amazing up His sleeves, and we can't wait to find out what it is!

So, here's a little bit about where we are in this process: We are pursuing a domestic infant adoption, which means we will be adopting a baby from somewhere in the United States. We are currently working with a small, local agency to complete our home study, which is basically a large written report about our home and our family that involves lots of questions and paperwork. We are hoping to have this finished by the end of January!
